14 years ago, on October 31, 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto published the document Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System

In nine pages, he described the principle of operation of a peer-to-peer payment system that revolutionized the world of financial technology.

The launch of the first cryptocurrency network took place in January 2009, and in April 2011 Satoshi disappeared.

Who is Satoshi Nakamoto? 

We don’t know. No one knows. Satoshi Nakamoto is a pseudonym under which one person or a group of people is hiding. Satoshi called himself a Japanese who was born on April 5, 1975. However, people doubt this information. The creator of bitcoin had a good command of English and communicated with users within the working hours of Europe. 

Crypto enthusiasts are trying to understand who is hiding under the name of Satoshi Nakamoto and offer various theories: from a namesake programmer to Elon Musk. 

Hal Finney. He was a software developer, cipherpunk and one of the first bitcoin users. It was Finney who received the first bitcoin transaction. 

Nick Szabo. A well-known programmer and mathematician. Many years before the advent of bitcoin, he developed the digital currency Bit Gold. People note that his writing style and the time of communication with cipher banks coincide with Satoshi Nakamoto. Sabo denies that he is Satoshi Nakamoto.

Dorian Nakamoto. An American of Japanese origin, whose surname coincides with the surname of the creator of bitcoin. He worked as a computer engineer and lived in the same area of California with Hal Finney for more than 10 years. Once, during an interview, Dorian hinted at participating in the creation of bitcoin, but soon stated that he did not understand the question correctly and refused to say the words. 

Elon Musk. The most famous tech entrepreneur of our time. Some Internet users have built a theory that he is hiding under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto: a talented developer, creates successful projects up to the space industry, often speaks about cryptocurrencies. However, Musk refuted this theory. In his opinion, Satoshi Nakamoto is Nick Sabo.

What we know for sure is that Nakamoto is the richest man on the planet. He hasn’t spent a single coin since 2009. His account holds 1 million bitcoins (more than $ 21 billion at the exchange rate as of October 31, 2022).
